James has spent over 16 years in consultancy working on projects across the UK and internationally to deliver creative solutions in both public and private sectors working across the full project life cycle. 

James has worked with a wide range of clients including cities, transit operators and cultural institutions. From this he has gained a breadth of experience across different sectors working with clients to define their ambition and create long term innovation which leads to tangible outcomes. His project highlights include:  

  • Leading the development of a Placemaking Strategy for Brick Lane to ensure its successes are felt throughout the street and surrounding area by visitors and residents alike. 

  • Developing a comprehensive set of design requirements for Passenger Assistance Intercoms across all Metrolinx built assets such as Subway, LRT, BRT, and Rail. 

  • Highlighting Toronto's Green and Open Spaces through the development of a wayfinding system. 

  • Translating a cultural narrative for the Paddington Basin, core to the regeneration of a revisited district. 

  • Guiding the vision for the rejuvenation of Allen Gardens in the London Borough of Tower Hamlets. 

Alongside his role as a design consultant James is the Practice Leader for Planning and design for movement. His responsibilities include business and skills development, and market planning and delivery.
